HOPE (a message from S4C Texas)

I’ve just received an email from Lori Ann Scott, a Shoot 4 Change photographer in Austin, Texas.

Whitin her active work as a fine art photographer she took time to travel North Vietnam with a medical mission to bring relief and aid to remote areas of the Country.

Here’s what she brings to our attention. It’s worth reading and admiring.

Thank you Lori Ann!

Dear All

Attached is the “Hope” series.

I believe there is such a varied look on the subjects faces…sadness, joy, pain, relief, dignity… but all show “Hope.”

One of them includes me with a little boy and his mother (last image).  For a small amount of money I was able to donate a wheelchair so the mother and father did not have to carry the little boy around on their backs.

The moment the pic was taken was when the translator was informing them.  It is a rare occasion that I am on that side of the camera…a self portrait for sure.  I look at that photo and I am there again.

I was the official photographer for a medical mission to the northern most part of Vietnam. www.gsmedicalministry.org [Take a look at the front page banner for more of Lori Ann work if you have a minute]

This particular organization goes once  a year (for 11 years now) and administers medical aid to the outermost tribes and regions in N Vietnam.  They administer care to 5,000 patients many of which never have received aid ever before.  For some it was getting glasses for the first time and with some it was open heart surgery…

The attached photos are a series that are currently in San Antonio on display.  I hope to use them as facilitators to promote the region in North Vietnam and the work that is charitable organization is doing and to raise awareness of the need in third world countries that are still recovering from the results of war even after all these years.

Of course, there is lots more to the story and I am willing to share.  Using my photos in mission work has been an incredible journey that I hope to be a part of again in North Vietnam and around the world.

With Shoot4Change I hope to help in anyway that is needed too.
