Ecco un bel progetto. Sicuramente molto ambizioso, probabilmente troppo, ma certamente stimolante.

Dare visibilità agli invisibili. Ridare dignità a chi l’ha perduta. Imparare a guardare i margini delle nostre società con occhi diversi. A volte abbassando lo sguardo, perchè loro – i senza dimora, homeless,senza tetto, sans-papiers – sono lì in basso, per terra (e facciamo finta di non vederli). Altre volte, invece, sedendoci a terra con loro ed alzando lo sguardo.

E’ un’iniziativa che vedrà coinvolti, piano piano, tutti i fotografi S4C sparsi in Italia e nel Mondo.

Lo avete già fatto per la Marcia Mondiale per la Pace. Rifatelo.

Spolverate le macchine fotografiche, tornate per strada, avvicinatevi a queste persone. E ricordate che lo sono quanto voi, quanto me, quanto tutti. Parlate loro, raccontate le vostre storie e, soprattutto, ascoltate le loro.

E poi fategli una foto. Anche una sola foto. Un bel ritratto. Inviatecelo su s4c@shootforchange.it o a.amendola@gmail.com e lo pubblicheremo insieme a tutti gli altri.

Stampatelo e regalateglielo. Lo conserveranno come una cosa preziosa.  Perchè in effetti lo è. Un ritratto certifica l’esistenza in vita; l’appartenenza ad una comunità; fissa la dignità del momento e la rende eterna.

Fidatevi…Vedrete succedere una cosa bellissima. Vi guarderanno in faccia e li vedrete felici di essere di nuovo visibili…Non più dei fantasmi…

Siate creativi. Colleghiamo tutte le nostre macchine fotografiche.

A quick introduction to this new S4C project.  Certanly an ambitious one, probably too much. Surely a challenging one…

Give back visibility to those whom we treat as ghosts; give them back a lost dignity… Learn to look down in the corners of our societies, bringing down our eyes and lenses because they, the homeless, the sans-papiers, live there… And sit down with them a raise your sight again together. You’ll see life in a totally different perspective.

All S4C photographers worlwide will be involved and we are waiting for you, too.

You did it already for the World March for Peace and Nonviolence. Do it again!

Take your camera, walk the streets of your city. Sit down and talk to them, listen to their stories and shoot a single portrait (we are connected with www.help-portrait.com iniative and we’ll partnership with them, too). Send it to us on s4c@shoot4change.net  and we’ll publishem them all here.

Then print it and give it to them. They’ll save it as a precious thing. Because it will be precious indeed. You’ll see. They’ll thank you, because a portrait is a certificate of belonging to a society. If you’ve been portraited you are not a ghost. You are a person.

Of course a photo, this time, cannot change the world. But it can help change the life of  a single person, contributing to give, at least, some dignity and visibility to….ghosts.
