Armenian Genocide, 100 years of Pain (teaser)
Armenian Genocide, 100 years of Pain (teaser)
By alfons rodríguez (S4C Spain Representative)
Armenia, paradigm of the oblivion. A sad example of historical memory nonexistence. Many, have considered it as the other Holocaust.
In 1915, a dark and cruel act was committed on his population. 1.500.000 Armenians were massacred by Ottoman hands. A genocide scarcely recognized by the international community, obviously by geopolitical motives and economic interests. But the indignation comes, overall, from Turkish denial to recognize those acts as a former genocide.
Now, almost 100 years after such atrocity, the country continues with an opened wound.
Have been 100 years of pain.
ARMENIAN GENOCIDE, 100 YEARS OF PAIN -TEASER from ALFONS RODRIGUEZ on Vimeo.
Today just a few survivors of the genocide are still alive. But hundreds of thousands of descendants, who cannot forget the suffering of their dear beings are living in and out of Armenia. Remembering with sorrow and outrage. The following generations have been deeply marked by those facts.
Every April 24th, the tragedy is commemorated through an important and emotive act in the capital, Yerevan. This documentary reportage approaches and shows the psychological and historical traces let by the genocide. The protagonists, the diaspora’ s voice and the hope and illusion of reconstructing a past and a singular History. Shows the social current context of Armenia and Nagorno Karabakh, the neighboring state from armenian origin, in dispute with Azerbaijan, across commonness, peoples and places.
