Sono Aperte le iscrizione on-line per il concorso fotografico istituito da Accademia Apulia UK

Accademia Apulia UK bandisce il concorso fotografico sul tema Migrazione, Storia di Viaggi, volto alla “promozione” dei fotografi emergenti di ogni nazionalità, residenti nella Comunità Europea.

Il principio fondamentale della Dichiarazione Universale dei Diritti dell’Uomo afferma che “Tutti gli esseri umani nascono liberi ed eguali in dignità e diritti.”

Tuttavia, anche se per molti la migrazione è una esperienza positiva, per molti altri invece, vittime di xenofobia e sfruttamento, comporta la violazione dei propri diritti umani.

Il Concorso Accademia Apulia Photography Award 2011 intende così evidenziare le difficoltà dei Migranti e nel contempo mettere in luce i tanti notevoli traguardi da essi raggiunti nelle società ospitanti.

Un’autorevole giuria selezionerà gli artisti capaci di far emergere questi contrastanti aspetti della realtà dei Migranti, contrassegnata anche dallo sforzo di traghettare una storia da una patria lontana ad un nuovo contesto socio-culturale, dove non pochi conseguono affermazione e riconoscimento sociale.

Le iscrizioni, totalmente gratuite, sono aperte dal 18 ottobre al 30 dicembre 2011.

La Giuria è composta da personalità del mondo della fotografia e giornalismo:

Barbara Roche – Migration Museum Project, Diane Smyth – British Journal of Photography, Jennifer Francis – The Royal Academy of Arts, John Ingledew – University of Gloucestershire, Lucilla e Fabrizio Coppi Barbieri – Coppi Barbieri, Stefano Tura – RAI, Steve Macleod – Metro Imaging, Susan Jenkins – The Art Newspaper.

I nomi dei cinque finalisti saranno resi noti il 10/01/2012. Il nome del vincitore del concorso sarà invece annunciato il 10 febbraio 2012. I tre top finalisti saranno invitati a Londra per due notti ospiti dell’Accademia Apulia UK. Al vincitore sarà assegnato un premio di € 1,000. Le opere selezionate saranno esposte in una mostra curata da Elisa Canossa nella prestigiosa cornice del Royal Horseguards di Londra.

Migrazione, Storia di Viaggi ha ricevuto il patrocinio di Amnesty International, del British Council, della Commissione Europea (UK), de international Organisation for Migration e della Regione Puglia.

Il Presidente della Repubblica Giorgio Napolitano ha conferito alla manifestazione una propria medaglia di rappresentanza.Photo Award 2011

The fundamental principle of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights states that “all human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights”, however whilst for many migration is a positive experience, many others endure human rights violations, exploitation and xenophobia.

The focus of this year’s Photographic Award aims to highlight Migrants’ struggle and difficulties as well as to show Migrants’ many accomplishments and contributions as successful members and leaders of the new host society.

We hope to attract participants from all walks of life and from different communities and nationalities. We are therefore looking forward to receiving submissions that can, not only show Migrants’ efforts as they seek better conditions, but we are also looking forward to seeing images which can show Migrants’ success stories: photos that speak of human achievements. Migrants make a huge contribution to the social, economical and political life of any country, anywhere in the world.

Winner Announcement: 10th Feb

The names of three finalists will be revealed on 10 January 2012 and the winner on 10 Feb 2012. Their works will be showcased in a group exhibition curated by Elisa Canossa at the Royal Horseguards in London. The three top finalists will be flown in as guests of Accademia Apulia for two nights. The winner will also receive 1,000 Euros cash prize.
